Coordinating a Living Trust Signing

Living trust appointments are often coordinated by attorneys, family members, caregivers, trustees, or document preparers. The person coordinating the appointment does not necessarily need to be the signer.

Each person whose signature is being notarized must personally appear before the notary, provide acceptable identification, be able to communicate with the notary in English, and sign willingly without coercion.

Living Trust Signings for Multiple Documents

Living trust appointments may involve more than one document or signer. Before scheduling, it is helpful to know which documents require notarization, how many signatures will be notarized, and whether any witnesses are required.

If an attorney or document preparer provided signing instructions, please have those instructions available for the appointment.

What to Have Ready

Before the appointment, please have:

Filling Checklist Form

• The completed, unsigned documents
• All required signers present
• Acceptable identification
• Any required witnesses
• Instructions from your attorney or document preparer

Want to make sure you're prepared?
Review our Mobile Notary Appointment Checklist before your appointment.

Important: The Notary's Role

TRC Mobile Notary does not prepare living trusts, provide legal advice, interpret trust provisions, or determine which notarial act a signer should choose.

If a living trust document does not contain a notarial certificate or there is uncertainty about how it should be notarized, please contact the attorney, document preparer, or receiving organization for instructions before the appointment.

A notarization documents the notarial act performed. It does not determine the legal effect, accuracy, or validity of the underlying living trust or other estate planning documents.
